Between Water and Light – Perspectives on Contemporary Art
13.6. - 9.8.2026
Suvi-Pinx, located in Sysmä, is one of the oldest summer exhibitions in Finland. It began operating at the turn of the 1970s and the summer exhibitions have continued to this day. The beautiful exhibition pavilion was designed by architect Kosti Kuronen.
Between Water and Light – Perspectives on Contemporary Art presents a diverse range of Finnish contemporary art: paintings, graphics, sculptures and installations. Reaching out in many directions, the exhibition opens up and expresses the diversity of contemporary art to viewers in an interesting and thought-provoking way.
The exhibition pavilion is located on the shores of Lake Päijänne, about 7 km from the center of Sysmä, creating an ideal environment for contemporary art. It is always possible to stop, look and find new approaches to art. In addition to the exhibition pavilion, works are on display in the surrounding buildings and in the café-restaurant.
The exhibition is curated by Raisa Laurila-Hakulinen and Merja Ilola.

Risteämä_99110 exhibition in Kaukonen
4. - 7.6.2026
Exhibition opening Friday June 4th 2026 at 3 PM
Risteämä_99110 is organized in collaboration with the Rovaniemi Art Museum, featuring works from the Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation Collection.
As its name suggests, the exhibition explores, as its name suggests, intersections, encounters, and juxtapositions. Set in the premises of the old dairy in Kaukonen, the exhibition brings together nature and the industrial - rough and refined. The industrial environment, with its rawness and unembellished character, is reflected in the works and materials. At the center of it all, the human presence remains small, yet tangible.
Within the halls of the dairy, works by artists such as Pekka Pitkänen's and Pirkko Nukari's bronze sculptures alongside Hugo Murtoniemi's ratchet-strap pieces and Konsta Huusko'spaintings, settle into the space almost organically. Works by Kim Simonsson, Kasper Muttunen, Ida Koitila, and Saara Ekströmintroduce a touch of futuristic aesthetics. Visitors are guided into the exhibition by Axel Antas's ever-observant snail in the work Still Life (Inertia Geometry), tirelessly surveying its surroundings.
